“Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.”
― John Muir
My fondest memories of childhood are of going camping with my parents. I remember hiking, crawling up rocks, climbing trees, swimming in lakes and rivers and at the end of long days, sitting around a campfire. To this day my favorite smell is the aroma of a campfire; there is nothing in the world like it. My mom and dad instilled a love for the outdoors in me that I believe was already present when I came into this world. There is no place I would rather be than in the wilderness. Only there do I feel truly at peace. It is in the outdoors where I recharge my energy and become whole again. Whenever I feel rundown and tired, a trip to the mountains makes me well again. I truly believe that nature is good for the soul, the body and the mind. Too many of us have become disconnected from nature. We come from nature and it is there that we thrive.
I remember sitting in my office looking at my National Parks wall calendar, counting the days until my next trip. I always liked looking at landscape photographs to remind me of the beautiful places I cherish. That is how my interest in photography developed. I wanted to capture the moments from my travels and conserve those memories forever. Life is made up of moments and it is those moments that create a lifetime. I have always believed that in the end, the only things that remain with us are the memories that we create. Photography for me is a way to bring all those memories back, memories that otherwise would be lost to time. When I look at a photograph I took years ago, it not only transports me to that place and time but it revives the emotions I felt then.
This website contains a collection of photographs I have taken throughout the years on my travels. I hope to be able to continuously add to the collection as I explore new places. I also hope it inspires you to get out into nature and create your own memories.
